Purchasing custom t-shirts for a team shouldn’t be expensive or complicated. At Mainly Design our primary focus is to save our customers money while providing the best shopping experience.
In order to save money on your custom t-shirts there are a few golden rules to follow
1) Select a t-shirt within your budget
This is by far the easiest thing you can do to lower your costs. All of our budget t-shirts have been specifically selected based on their value and high quality. Just because a t-shirt has been labeled as “budget” doesn’t mean it’s lower in quality. In actuality many of these t-shirts are cheaper because of the high volumes their manufacturers produce.
If you are looking for an affordable t-shirt that will give you the best bang for your buck we recommend either the Gildan Ultra Cotton or the Hanes Adult Tagless T-shirt. Both of these t-shirts come in a rainbow of colors.
2) Print on a Light Colored t-shirt
Unless if you are familiar with the technicality of screen printing, most customers aren’t aware that printing on darker colored garments costs more then light colored garments. The reason for the price difference is because dark t-shirts require a base layer. In order for your design to look vivid on dark colored garments, t-shirt printers must add a white base layer.
You can skip this fee by printing on a white or light colored t-shirt.
3) Minimize the amount of colors in your design
Use as few colors as possible and try keeping your design to a maximum of 8 colors. Many screen printing machines are only able to handle a maximum of 8-10 different colors on a design. If your design is over 8 colors it is printed instead via digital printing. With digital printing you can have an unlimited amount of colors. Digital printing is a much slower process with higher ink costs.
It is recommended that you keep the colors in your design as low as possible so that it can qualify for screen printing pricing, which will save you money.
4) Purchase in bulk
At mainly design bulk discounts start at quantities of 7 or more. By increasing the quantity in your order you will receive a better price per shirt. You will be amazed at the value you can achieve by just adding an extra couple of t-shirts.
